[/I] He was shocked, of course, and his parents were even more shocked, also dismayed.| - Human Bio - |
Name: Amarin
Turns: 20 Turns
Gender: Male
Rank: Goldhandler/Whermaster
Sexuality: Homosexual
Weyrmate: N/A
Appearance: Although tall and lean, Amarin does not appear to have an inch of muscle on his body. He is exceptionally weak, especially in the arms and chest, and cannot hold his own in a fight. His legs, however, are quite strong from riding Amarisk. His hair is a rather unique color: he is one of the rare blondes on Pern. His hair is pale, almost white in color. It looks somewhat like platinum, in fact. It is cut short, with straight bangs hanging gently over his face.
Also surprising for a Pernese, he is exceptionally pale. While most have at least a slight tan, Amarin looks as though he is missing a vital pigment in his skin. While he does not have a sickly glow, he certainly does look different from all others. His eyes, however, are not a rare color. They are a deep, chocolaty brown, a color much like deep klah. His face is slender, and while he is not handsome, he certainly has character. He is not ugly, but certainly no spectacle to behold, and yet he does stand out. His face is quite interesting, mostly because of his characteristic crooked smile.
Personality: Amarin has a rather pensive, thoughtful attitude. He is insightful, and can easily read human emotions. Also, he is good at comforting others, two qualities that work well together. He can comfort complete strangers, and is so good at reading people he can notice several good qualities within the first few minutes of meeting someone. He is gentle, and can be honest, but sweet about it. In fact, this young man is all around kind, sweet and caring. He treats people well, and is quite likable. Amarin is affectionate, especially towards his beloved Amarisk and any men he may fall for. He isn’t a very physical person, but quite emotional, and often has long, intense loves that often end badly.
Perhaps his best quality is a simple one: he is calm. He manages to stay calm and think logically in even the most stressful of situations, a result of the confidence that Impressing gave him. Although he enjoys peace, relaxation, and serenity, he is quite the social creature. Friendly and optimistic, he makes friends quite easily. In fact, this need to know almost everyone stems from a deep-seeded fear of being alone. In addition, he often worries about Amarisk, and although he will never panic, he will go to extra precautions for his wher’s health. Perhaps because of his parents refusal to accept Amarisk, he feels a strong need for acceptance.
He is partial to animals, especially. Everything from the more intelligent whers and dragons to the less intelligent flits, and even pets like felines and canines receive his love. He is fiercely loyal to Amarisk, his Weyr, and his friends. He holds whers and other humans close to his heart. However, he seems to dislike one particular kind of human: Lord Holders. He finds them pretentious, especially those who refuse their tithes. He also dislikes loneliness, needlethorns, and tea. Regardless of his hatred of Holders, he adores gathers. This adds up to him being rarely serious, and also somewhat unprepared for any negative events. He loves nature as well.
He can be outspoken and opinionated, standing up for his beliefs no matter what they are. In fact, he is quite stubborn. He has a strong moral sense, following and enforcing moral codes, only short of candidates (who he is strangely fond of) avoiding lessons or chores. He protects the weak, and is generous to those who have little. He is relatively selfless, and sees only the good in people. This is his tragic flaw, as he is far too trusting and vulnerable. Only Amarisk has protected him from several nasty situations. Needless to say, he is a bit naïve.
History: Amarin was born in Telgar Weyr to Greenrider Tania and Bluerider L’nir. He came from a long line of riders, so he was expected to Impress a dragon of his own. He would consider his rider name in his spare time. Perhaps it would be Am’rin. Maybe A’rin. Maybe even something strange, like Am’n. As a child, he was well-liked for his calm, thoughtful disposition. He was rather sweet, and as a toddler he was the token ‘cutie’ of the Weyr. The Weyrfolk were quite fond of him, often giving him extra servings of food, especially his favorites.
At twelve, he finally became a candidate. To his parents dismay, turns passed with no Impression. As a last-ditch attempt, it was suggested he stand at wher hatchings. At first, his parents would hear of no such thing. However, a wher would make him slightly less of a disappointment, so they begrudgingly allowed it when he was 17 Turns. He Impressed Amarisk at his first wher hatching. He noted an gold wher heading in his direction, most likely towards the girl behind him. No doubt he would get mauled. Too nervous to run (he’d been mauled before), he shrunk to the ground, covering his head with his hands.
He felt two strong paws on his back. What you doing, silly head? Surely she wasn’t talking to him. Queens Impressed girls. He’d grown up in a Weyr, and that was common knowledge out of one. He was homosexual, but weren’t whers smart enough to know the difference between guys who liked guys and girls? Amarisk smart enough, dummy. Is wher. Wher do what want. Want you. No be stupidbrain no more.
He couldn’t take his parents, constantly on his back. When would he abandon his wherhandler position for a solid job. Amarisk was strapped to dragon back, and the two disappeared Between, only to reappear over Akum Weyr. The mystery of Between intrigued the pair, but neither enjoyed it much. Flying was one thing--cold and sensory deprivation, of course, were quite another. Amarisk especially was quite unnerved by this. Amarin missed his home, family, and the Weyrfolk, but quickly adjusted to life in the new Weyr. As an added bonus, he escaped his parents disapproval. The new Weyr was different, and more accepting. The pair loved it. Soon after, he Impressed a fire bird named Lavie.

Name: Amarisk
Turns: 3 Turns
Color: Gold (e5b510)
Appearance: This wher has a very interesting coloring. Her hide seems to be a very deep shade of gold, nearly golden-brown. Her limbs, however, look as if they were dipped into a deep golden-brown, almost bronze in appearance. Her tail tip also has this strange quality. From far off, her hide seems uniform besides these strange “boots,” but up close one can see that her hide is actually a lovely patchwork of golds, bronzes, and browns. Truly, it is the variety of shades that make this creature so lovely. This rather large wher is a feminine beauty. While most whers have more awkward ridges, her are dull and delicate, just like the lady she is. She has longer wings than most whers, allowing her to glide beyond most other wher’s abilities.
Personality: Amarisk is surprisingly contradictory. While she is no doubt sweet and loving, she seems to have a mischievous, sarcastic streak. She loves tricking people, as well as teasing them. Of course, as most queens, she also can be a bit vain. In fact, she has more than her fair share of vanity. She is quite affectionate, especially to hers. Scratching, rubbing, and compliments will get you on her eternal good side. Being mean to this Gold or her handler will earn you his eternal dislike. She is cheerful and optimistic, an all around good-natured creature. She has a natural tendency towards pranks of all sorts. She likes to fool around a lot. Her sense of humor seems to bounce between slightly sarcastic insults and cute dialogues. She is surprisingly intelligent for a wher, but her speech is still incomplete and fragmented.

Name: Lavie (short for Lavender)
Turns: 1 Turn
Species: Fire Bird
Appearance: Lavie is rather small, her wingspan only reaching a mere four feet, and just barely at that. Her feathers are a pastel violet, almost a pale lavender shade. The tips of her wings and edges of her tail feathers are a deeper purple. Her brilliant coloring is lovely, of course, but her shaping is strangely flawed for flame. Her wings are rather short for a purple fire bird, but they have a strange width to them. Her form lacks the slender elegance that most possess, and she is surprisingly stocky.
Personality: Mellow and calm, Lavie doesn’t seem to have any anger or sadness. She is always cheerful but levelheaded, a strangely intelligent creature. As a result, her glow is rarely bright or dim, spending most of its time in a completely normal glow. Also, she very rarely fans her tail. Like all purples, she is quite musical. She likes to trill and chirp lovely melodies. She has a regular adoration for all music. In addition, she is quite respectful, especially of queens. She respects not only orders, but also preferences. She will do whatever she can to make someone comfortable, whether it is chirping to fill a silence or keeping it. Although she has a strong sense of status, she is very motherly. She may reprimand others, but she also guides and protects them. Lastly, she is a creative spirit.
Other: Heterosexual; Purple (f4bcf6)[/blockquote]
