Name: Isabis
Turns: 16 (and a half!)
Gender: Female
Rank: Apprentice Harper
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Weyrmate: No
Appearance:
Isabis hasn't quite grown into herself yet; she still moves as if she were a gawky twelve Turn old in spite of having having reached her adult height and weight. She's on the shorter side at 5'4" and already has a woman's curves, which means she may have to watch out for plumpness in her later Turns. For now, she simply looks healthy.
Her hair is a vibrant shade of red, full of a natural shine and glinting with highlights; it's her pride and joy, never cut and usually worn in a series of thick, intricate braids piled atop her head like a crown. Her eyes aren't pale, as one would expect, but a shade of brown that borders on chestnut. She has skin dusted with freckles and a bright smile with even white teeth, though she doesn't show them often; winning a full smile from Isabis is a challenge. She dislikes her chin, which has a slight cleft. She thinks it's too strong for a woman and she's often bringing her hands up to cover her mouth in a bid to actually cover her chin.
Her clothing is traditional, even a little old-fashioned and modest. Her shirts are always high-cut at the neck and has long sleeves that gather at the cuff, for a pretty bloused effect. An embroidered blue vest is sometimes worn over this. Her skirts are usually a darker navy blue and fall almost to the floor, just showing the light leather boots that protect her feet.
Personality:
Isabis is very much a dreamy artist with her head in the clouds and her feet not quite touching the ground. She seems forgetful but really it's because her mind is usually going a mile a minute, thinking of chords and possible lyrics or of silly things like the sunrise she'd watched that morning...which can then be used in a song or a poem.
While this may make her seem absent-minded, what it really means is that she's exceptionally observant. She notices things, tiny details that might be missed by other people. She may not comment on them but they're there, stored away in her creative mind.
Face to face, she comes across as sweet and empathetic. If she hadn't joined Harper, she might have done well at Healer due to how much she seems to care about other people. She has a deep and abiding interest in other people's stories, and dislikes talking about herself, preferring to ask others about their lives.
Men tend to fluster her. Not boys so much but grown men who show her any attention will have a hard time getting more than blushes and stammering out of Isabis. It isn't that attention makes her uncomfortable...except it does; she'd much rather be observing than take the spotlight. At all other times though, she's an excellent communicator. She has to be, to join the Harpers.
History:
Isabis is the only daughter of two Smiths. Their parents were Smiths, and their parents before them, so her parents didn't quite know what to make of their daydreaming child with a knack for music. They'd expected a boy, or at least a tomboyish girl, someone who shared their interest in building things with their own two hands.
She was only a child when Thread returned but she remembered her parents' fear when it came, and their sorrow when word came of the loss of Akum's dragonriders. They were Holders but they'd raised their daughter with respect for the Weyr and mourned that loss sincerely. Afterwards, they moved to the Weyr to help and threw themselves into projects that might help prevent further loss of life, including architectural changes to guard free-standing buildings with metal awnings and tanks to hold agenothree. They continued to try to interest Isabis in these things but she was happier with the Harpers, volunteering herself as a teacher's aid once she was old enough to help with lessons for the younger children.
She was preparing to petition her parents to allow her to apprentice with the Harpers when the Plague came. Both her mother and her father were lost. Apprenticing was put off for another Turn, until she was thirteen, as Isabis struggled with her grief. In the end, the Healers recommended she do so to give herself something to live for and she agreed. The next three Turns were busy, which was just what she needed. Although the Weyr still struck her as an odd place to live at times, she enjoyed being a Harper and discovered a talent for composition and instruments. She favored stringed instruments like gitars and lap harps.
When White Hopeth laid her clutch on the sands a Turn ago, Isabis was asked to stand for them. Though she was left without a lifemate, the experience was not a bad one for the girl. She enjoyed meeting the other candidates and hearing their stories, and seeing the eggs hatch from close range was a wonder. She felt she was standing at a pivotal moment in history and faithfully recorded her impressions in song and poetry. Now a new clutch is hardening on the sands, a traditional clutch, and she's standing for them again. The hope that these eggs represent, not for herself but for Akum, have left her with a growing sense of optimism for the future.

Color Preferences: Color doesn't matter but female would be better than male.
Why you want the colors: Having a male voice in her head would probably break her poor mind. XD Seriously though, she has a hard enough time interacting with males outside of her own head, having one sharing minds with her would be really, really hard for poor Isabis.
Why you think you deserve the colors: I don't! I mean, no more than anyone else. I'm just here to have fun and enjoy the story. If that story involves Impressing, sweet. If not, also sweet.
Stands/Sands: Admins can decide.
Mutations: Admins can decide but I like the challenge a mutation would provide for her.
Injuries: Admins can decide, I'll play anything.
