Name: Delysia Turns: 18 Turns Gender: Female Rank: Candidate Sexuality: Straight with Bi-tendancies Weyrmate: n/a
Appearance: Play-by: Lauryn Hill
Delysia wouldn't consider herself such, but she has been defined as an amazon beauty. She's five foot seven of mocha colored flesh. Growing up on a runner farm has alloted her with a lean, well toned figure. Her face is smooth and round, home to a pair of full lips and almond shaped chocolate eyes. Her hands, though delicate in appearance, are strong and sturdy, and show signs of the hard labor her 18 turns on a farm have afforded. She has a few scars about her person, from the many runner bites she recieved from the often ill-tempered beasts.
She tends to wear clothing that is close to the skin, allowing her to work freely, yet stay cool while in the sun. The various cuts and styles of her clothes varies greatly, and often leave one to wonder if she didn't make them herself. The tops of anything she wears tend to dip low and lift up, amplifying her moderatly sized breasts - this lifting being the result of tight clothing fabric such as hide. Her black hair is kept need by being braided into many braids, not only to make hair styling a cinche, but it allows the air to flow along her scalp, keeping her cool. Being a woman of such dark complexion, Delysia nearly always carries a skin of water, as most women would a mark purse.
Personality: Delysia is real out going and fun loving, though - when the occassion calls for it - she can be the take charge type of girl. She takes her work seriously, even if she jokes and plays around while she's doing it. Things always get done in a timely fashion.
She's always been interested in animals of all types, having grown up around runners most of her life. She was always bringing critters home, either because they were abandoned, or hurt, or just because she thought it was cute. Her mother wasn't always so thrilled. That's how, later, she got Zar.
She can be extremely calm and cool even in moments of danger, only allowing herself to be scared or nervous before or after the fact. Infact, many have thought her fearless, or just plain crazy.
The dragons have always been a source of wonder for Delysia. And the fire-birds have been a thing of great mystery. She longed to unlock the secrets to both Thread-fighting speicies.
History: Meribel was only a young child when the Akumites came to Pern, and she had never heard of them until her family came to live at the Akum Weyr. She recalled thinking Akum an odd name for a Weyr, but then who was she, a Beastmaster's daughter, to question the choices of a Rider? She shared all she knew of the fire-birds - which wasn't much - with her only daughter, Sinbel. Sinbel would share these stories with her daughter, Delysia, before she became ill.
After the passing of her mother, Delysia – then nine - worked hard with her father and two brothers - Tavin, Terbel, and Meavin - to raise fine and loyal runners. She herself had trained two fine mares that were bought by the Harper Hall “by the Masterharper himself, too,” her father had told her – though she never really put much credit into that, it did make her feel good, and this was when she was twelve.
Her brothers had no aspirations of being Beastmaster's themselves. Terbel wanted to become a Harper, and so he left home and went to the Harper Hall. And Maevin wanted to be a Fisher, so moved with his wife and son to Seaspray Hold.
Though his son’s had left, Tavin was still gladdened to know his daughter wanted to become a Beastmaster. And so he deicded he would leave the farm to her. This made Delysia happy, as her father was giving her a chance at being a Master Beastmaster, a title not held by many women, thus making her an independent woman, she wouldn’t have to marry to survive. She could marry for love. So at sixteen, Delysia became a Beastmaster Journeywoman.
It was while she was staying at a neighboring farm, learning to care for pigs, that she happened upon Zar. It was her habit to leave her work boots outside, so as to not bring the stink of animal into the house, and when she went to put her foot into a boot, she felt something warm inside. Curious, and thinking someone had put a stone in her shoe, yet again, she reached her hand in gently grabbed whatever it was. When she pulled her hand out, she was puzzled at finding an egg. It was warm because her boot was black and sitting in the sun therefore it absorbed all that heat.
She took it into the house and kept it infront of the hearth, moving it every so often and so much as she had learned to do with birds eggs. It took a few weeks before the egg hatched. It had started to hum, a soft high creening, that had the whole house rushing to it. And before long, a tiny fire-lizard was in her lap greedily gobbling down the small morsels of meat Delysia fed him. She named him Zar. She’s not sure why, and she insists that it just popped into her head.
The day the Hatching Scouts came, the day of her 18th birthing day, she had returned and was in the runner pen with the newest foal birthed that morning. The new mother gave a whinny of excitement, just as Zar 'popped' into being, chattering excidedly, and Delysia looked up to the sky and smiled. She was always excited to see the riders in the skies. It gave her such a feeling of comfort. She ran out to greet them, along with her father.
The riders admired Zar while he ‘chatted’ with the dragons, relaying flashes of images that were probably part of the conversation he was trying to have with the dragons. She found herself telling them how she had found the egg in her boot. They asked her lots of questions, mostly about runners, and she was more than happy to answer.
Apparently the dragons found her love for animals, and the fact she had Impressed an orphaned fire-lizard, to their liking, for she was asked to come to Akum and stand on the sands. The next thing she knew, she was in Akum. Awaiting the clutching of a watch-wher.
And imagine her surprise when she was sitting in the stands the day of Hopeth's clutches hatching when she heard the plea of a little green. She was just sitting, watching the same excited feeling as those around her, wondering if this is what it would feel like to wait for her chance to try to impress a wher mother into letting her have one of the creatures eggs.
Why are you just sitting there looking so dumb? Your Literath is hungry. Come feed me, Delysia! Come! The green waddled her way towards the area in which Delysia sat.
It took a moment for her to realize what was happening. She jumped down from the stands and onto the hot sand, not even feeling the heat through her soft boots. She ran and met her precious green. A bowl was thrust into her arms, and the little green was already gobbling hunks of meat.
"Slow down, Literath. I can't keep up!" She told the beautiful creature before her. And that is how she became Delysia, rider of Green Literath.

Name: Literath Turns: 1 Turn Color: Green Hex Code: 4AA02C
Appearance: Literath is about midsized for a green. Not too tall, not too short her rider would say. She is a paler shade of green to the others, appearing to be the color of Emeralds under a radiant sun. Her eyes are accented by the darker spots of green around them, making the eye ridges look some how exotic. She's slender, slimmer than other greens, even though she eats about as much, if not more, than they. Her muscles defined and sinewy under her hide. Her wings are her pride. The webbing almost minty in color, a bold contrast to her emerald hide.
Personality: She's shy of just about everyone and everything. She's only just beginning to be more comfortable of her rider's little bronze firelizard. But once she's confortable with a new firend, Literath is always happy to see them. Delysia has the hardest time coaxing the green from her weyr when it rains, even a light sprinkle. Literath thinks the water is much much too cold, and even when Delysia has a bucket of warm water, Literath doesn't want to get wet. And don't even point out a bug to her. If she see's it, she will panic, and though it's comical to watch the dragon run from even a little beetle, it can be quite dangerous.

Name: Zar Hex Code:663300 Turns: 2 Species: fire-lizard Appearance: Zar is a bronze fire-lizard, though dark in hue. His hide even has splatters of dark bronze through out his hide, which are visible when in the sun, like freckles on a human. The most prominent markings are those along the tip of his muzzle and eye ridges. He looks as though he's got a beard and bushy eyebrows, both a paler shade of bronze than the rest of him.. Personality: Zar is friendly, especially if you offer him food. His favorite thing to do is play tag. He'll play with just about anyone or anything from other fire-lizards, to children, even with any willing dragon, though this feat is hard to do.
However friendly he is, he can be very protective over Delysia and her things, especially when she's asleep or not home. Other:

Cana - I will ask you respectfully to keep your bronze fully bronze. You can have a bronze hue that is close to brown or green - but it cannot be distinctly that color.
