Appearance:
Verene is one of the daintier women of the weyr, physically. She is small-boned, of short-stature, and lightly muscled. Her golden complexion goes best with dark colors, but she is usually found wearing bright clothing. Candidacy has forced her into new clothes – hardy tunics, sturdy trousers, heavy boots – but before she was Searched, and when she's off-duty, she likes to wear a simple, light-colored 'gown', which is just a publicly-decent version of the shift she wears to sleep.
Her hair is naturally nut-brown, but exposure to sun and salt have lightened it, and lent it a touch of golden blonde. She twists her hair into a thick braid, and ties it off with a small green ribbon at the bottom. Few other fripperies adorn her person, though sometimes she wears a large green bow at the beginning of her braid, and a ribbon around her throat to match it. All this green really makes her eyes pop, though her short lashes certainly don't help.
Personality:
Though she may be one of the physically smaller candidates, Verene is anything but small when it comes to personality. If she does something, she does it big, and she plans it out beforehand. She's good at strategy, as can be seen from the frequent escapades she planned in her youth.
And though she doesn't discriminate between men or women when it comes to who she wants to sleep with, Verene is not incredibly flirtatious (unless some~~one~~'s been nipping at the wine!). She is diplomatic when it comes to disputes, and very much a one-lover woman. You'll not see a string of former lovers in her past, nor does she anticipate them in the future. Flight-mates, obviously, do not count. Her debate skills are well-honed, and she does not waste time dancing around a subject.
History:
Born and mostly raised in Akum Hold, Verene has never let herself be passive. She ran her caretakers through the wringer quite thoroughly, and often escaped them. Growing up in the farming Hold, Verene became proficient in the handling of runner- and herd-beasts. When she was eleven, she climbed aboard one of the older stallions – one with a reputation of being nearly impossible to handle, and was only kept around for breeding purposes. The stud's usual handlers ran out to the field in a panic – only to see this slip of a girl out-stubborn their monster. She refused to be thrown, refused to let herself be pushed around, and refused to give up. Though her muscles ached afterwards, she was able to accept the somewhat bewildered compliments of the two men.
Some say that was the first time Verene realized that she could lead, and they might be right. By the time she was fifteen, Verene was a highly accomplished rider, and had the experience to both lead properly and test out people's skills.
Verene has two pets – both fire lizards. She won the egg that hatched bronze Tam after a particularly long race at a Gather. The prize was a pot of three eggs – one to the owner of the runner, one to the trainer, and one to the rider. Only her egg held a bronze – the owner she was riding for got a brown, and the trainer got a blue. She wasn't invited to ride for them again.
Sassy came two Turns later, this time as part of a gambling pot. That night, Verene walked off with two fire lizard eggs, fourteen and a half marks, three vouchers from various Halls, and a new-found respect for the game of dragon-poker. She still plays, if she has the time between chores and such.
Speaking of chores, Verene's a candidate, ostensibly for Dyamoth's clutch. When word got out that Dyamoth had clutched, Verene was in the fields with her current trainer and a new runner. The trainer was upset beyond belief (because other wordings are considered 'impolite'!), but he agreed to let her take part in the Search. The dragon picked her, and she packed her things to journey to an almost empty weyr. There's always plenty to do, and Verene's pleased that she not only gets to exercise her natural leadership, but there are plenty of attractive visages to draw the eye.

Why you want the colors: Well, it's not so much these particular colors as it is these are the dragons she could ride, but there's just one flaw for each that would prevent her.
Why you think you deserve the colors: Me? Because...well...why not? I'm a good writer, have been around the fandom for years, and have a good probability of doing it right, minus the Sues.

Appearance: Tam is a patchier bronze, with areas that are almost green, and then areas that are almost gold, but his main color is a bright bronze with a healthy glow.
Personality: He doesn't quite know what to make of Sassy. He likes his greens, yes, but he would prefer to Fly gold, and he's a little arrogant prick about it, too.

Appearance: Sassy is a light grey-green, similar to the sea on a hot day. Her hide is rather solidly-colored, with little variance as to shade.
Personality: Like most greens, Sassy has far too much fun with the males, and far too little concern for...well, anything else. She has an abominable attention span, and her tastes rarely stay the same from one flight to the next.
