The power of personality is undeniable even in Lalayrin's appearance. This is a confident woman, one that carries her 5' frame with a certainty that makes her seem taller, more striking. Boyish yet somewhat curvy, she manages her figure with seemingly little effort, unbothered by the fact that she's often called "skinny" or even "scrawny" she's just starting to fill out in "all the right places". With her cool, mossy green colored eyes and straight shoulder-length dirty blond hair, she would probably suffer from cuteness were it not for the self-possession with which she conducts herself; in a world where women are often no better than chattel, this woman belongs to no one.
Generally, she dresses in deference to the climate of Akum, preferring light-weight, brightly colored fabrics that allow those tropical breezes to combat that tropical humidity. The cloth is usually inexpensive, yet the cut and style is always tailored for her specifically. The trappings of her position evidenced in the simi-luxury with which she keeps herself.
Personality: [[What does you character act like? At least two paragraphs please.]]
Neither shy nor retreating, Lalayrin is one of those women who would have been bent until she was broken had she been consigned to life as a holder's wife. The majority of her youth at Sea Spray Hold was spent struggling against the constraints of being the "fairer sex", trapped by gender. She might have been any number of things - had dreamed of making her mother proud and marrying a Holder as a child, actually - had she not been born to the Lord Holder's steward.
As a child, Lalayrin was wild but vivacious, a borderline tomboy that was often being brought into her father's office for a serious talking-to. Like many little girls, she was afraid of her father's ire, and dutifully bowed her head for his lectures, learning early on that it was sometimes better to pay lip-service to the status quo. In her early adolescence, that vivacity turned to charm, and that charm made her a popular idol for the young men of the Hold - which led to a whole new series of discussions in her father's office. If she was foolish enough to lose her maidenhead to one of those boys...
But she never did. Lalayrin was a lot of things, but she was never a fool. Smart, intuitive, crafty, she was always looking toward the future, toward the next step, for some way to better herself and her place in life. She no longer wanted to marry some holdbrat and be some negligible farmer's wife. Her father could arrange a higher match than that, she knew, and - though the idea of dutifully retiring as a little wifey wasn't all that appealing - it was a lot better than winding up married to some unimportant nobody
History: [[At least three paragraphs about your characters past. You must have info related to the history of the Weyr in the history.]]
Born and raised at Sea Spray Hold, Lalayrin was the only daughter of Turin, Steward of the Hold and brother to the Lord. As such, she was born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth, used to luxury, and supposedly prepared to become a trophy wife one day. That was, after all, what rich men had daughters for: to marry them off to other rich men and cement friendships.
Most of her childhood was no different than anyone else's, certainly no different than other girls of about the same class aside from the fact that she was at her father's side much of the time, watching and learning. She got in a little more trouble than the other girls, generally, by virtue of being stubborn and headstrong and tomboyish and having parents that frowned on all of those three things from their daughter. Still, Lalayrin wasn't beaten or neglected, and that's a lot more than many young girls could say.
Before she was a teenager, Lalayrin had come to grips with the fact that she was exceptionally talented in her role of the future, being the wife of some holder (thanks to the fact that she spent much of her time helping out around the Hold with the many siblings and cousins she had). She was saddened by this as her dream was not to become a broodmare. At sixteen, she was officially promised to a fosterling from Splinter Wood Hold. However, happily (to her way of thinking at least) the young man in question had a nasty habit of riding his runner after overindulging in wine. On one of these wild rides he fell off of the animal into the sea and was never found.
Shortly after Lalayrin's fiancee's untimely demise the young woman went to her father and uncle and requested that she be sent to the Weyr so she could help in the kitchens or something. She used the excuse that being in a hold while the death of her should-have-been husband was still so fresh was breaking her heart. Lalayrin honestly believed that given time, she could have gotten used to the man's bad habits and made him a fine wife. She wasn't really heartbroken that he was gone, and her mother knew that she simply had bigger dreams than to be married off and so, stepped in to champion her daughter's cause. "If she makes a place for herself in the Weyr, we'll not have to put up a dowry for her. When time comes where we have to attend a Hatching, we'll simply make her sit with us."
Lalayrin knew her mother had to have ulterior motives for wanting her out of the hold, and while she was hurt by her mother's sudden apparent lack of love, she was also grateful for the words spoken on her behalf. Two turns later her mother's reasons were revealed. The woman had been dying, and knew she was and wanted to spare her oldest and favorite child from witnessing her slow decline.
Other: [[Anything else you would like use to know about you or your character.]]
I wouldn't mind Lalayrin getting a Fire-Bird if the admins think she's worthy.
Also, I've got a five and a half month old son that will occasionally pull me away from the computer at random times without warning. However, taking care of him does not interfere with my DRoP sites. I'm a member of four other DRoP RP sites besides this one.

Color Preferences: [[What colors do you think would work well for you character?]] Green, white anything that a woman would be seen on basically.
Why you want the colors: [[Why do you want the colors?]] I find that because I'm a woman the dragons that a woman would ride are easier to relate to and thus easier for me to play.
Why you think you deserve the colors: [[Why do you think you deserve the colors?]] I'm not so sure if I deserve any of these colors yet, I'd have to prove that I deserve whatever color my character ends up with. I'd try not to argue about the dragon she is paired with, but if she ends up with something I don't feel I've earned I'll say so.
Stands/Sands: [[Would you like to impress from the stands or on the sands?]] In the books I always liked the stands impressions, so stands please!
Mutations: [[Would you like a mutation if you hatches?]] Sure, I've got a mutant on another site. He's rather fun to play.
Injuries: [[Would you like to get injured during the hatching?] Any injuries are up to the admins. I'd prefer nothing that would lead to damage to the hatchling that my character impresses to, if she does impress.
| - Fire-Bird Information - |
Color: Blacker than black.
Age: Hatchling
Name: Noir Noctem or just Noir for short.
Appearance:
This fire-bird was rather big on hatching. He is three feet tall and his wing span is the usual four feet it would be for a firebird his size. He looks like a powerful bird of pray. Possibly even close to what a small hawk looks like. His hide is the purest black one has ever seen. Darker then any raven and darker then the darkest night. He has a regal look about him which people find rather odd mixed with his interesting personality. So far, this little hatchling is possibly the biggest to have hatched from one of the eggs in this clutch and he is quite proud of this fact.
Personality:
This black is not afraid to be himself and he isn’t afraid to have a little fun either. He is a prankster. He would be the first to admit that he gets his kicks out of scaring the tar out of other people and he is full of life. He also likes to be around other people. Why? Because he is good looking and he knows it. He is also one of those birds that act first and think later. This often gets him into some odd situations which lead to him feeling rather embarrassed and possibly even a little irritable. He is possessive in the sense that people have to go through him to have anything to do with his pet. If he thinks someone is unsuited his Lalayrin, he won’t let them touch her. After all, she is his. He has a wild spirit and he doesn’t tend to have much of a temper. However, when he does get angry, he can be rather vengeful and will probably make the person’s life a living hell.
Though this all may be true, he really isn’t that bad of a guy. He can actually be quite moving towards the people he actually likes. This bird also seems to enjoy a good joke and he doesn’t like being without his Lalayrin. After all, who would be their to protect her if not for him. Lalayrin seems to be the only person who can keep this firebird tamed as well. All she needs to do is ask and he will listen to the best of his abilities. It doesn’t always work out all the time though. After all, this black is a free spirit. Noir Noctem is also extremely vain.
