But he is also know to be slightly clumsy when off the job. K'lan is also very flexible as well, making it easier to maneuver around things that would be hard for many others. It is often thought that he is much younger then he is and he is often mistaken for a harper or a entertainer of sorts.
Though most thieves cut their hair short, so as to keep it out of their eyes, K'lan keeps is raven black hair long and in a low set ponytail. His eyes, that matched the color of his hair, are very deceiving do to the fact that he is often putting on a act to get out of one thing or another. When he is not trying to get out of trouble or trick people, K'lan often has a slight depressed look to him. K'lan is also well know for his slightly feminine appearance as well. Though this does give him the attention of many males, K'lan doesn't seem to care in the least do to the fact it helps to lure people into his traps.

Being a very lithe person, as well as a ex-thief, he often wears very loose clothing that allows him easier movement. He is usually barefooted so as to move more silently as well.
Personality:
Being a ex-thief, K'lan is one of the most sly, devious, and intelligent young man to ever lay foot on Pern. Being forced to be what he was at a young age, K'lan is very skilled at what he does, though he didn't wish to be. Abandoned at a young age, K'lan was forced to grow up faster then most had to. Without the love and care most got when they were young, he became more then slightly anti-social and depressed. Heck! you would be to if you were forced to watch other children have fun with their families knowing you could never have that.
Though he is very depressing and anti-social, he is an amazing actor. Using his abilities of persuasion, K'lan can trick almost anyone into a false sense of security. After he has you in his grasps he has many other useful skills he uses to get what he wants, which is usually in their pockets, but not so frequently now that he is a dragon rider. His amazing acting skills and street smarts have gotten K'lan out of many a dangers and has all was keep his head under a roof. When needed, he has been known to use seduction to get what he wants.
Though he has no memory of his family, other then his mother, K'lan feels that he is better off without them even though he had a strange feeling that something is missing in his life before he he met his dragon Arkinth. K'lan is also very skittish around large crowds of people, do to the fact that he is used to being chased by them. He has slowly started to get used to being with large amounts of people, but If he can avoid large mobs of people, he will. K'lan has always has a strange fasination with dragons and often found himself wishing to be a dragon rider himself before he became one. He had always had a great respect for dragons, flitters, and Fire-Birds.
Now that K'lan is a dragon rider, he spends most of his time with is Arkinth and his little flitters, do to the fact that he does not trust himself not to fall back into the habit of stealing from others. That and he is not used to being around people period.
History:
K'lan was born in Benden Weyr to his mother Edin. Though K'lan did have a family for a time, he did not have them long enough to remember them. Abandoned by his parents at the age of five years old, K'lan was found by a young man of 23 turns named Dajin, who took K'lan into his care. It didn't take long for young K'lan to realize his new guardian's profession however. Dajin was a thief and he was said to be the best in the Weyr. It was not long after Dajin found K'lan that he started to train the young boy in the art of the thief so as to put us to young K'lan.
K'lan was a quick learner and, with in four turns, K'lan had be came a expert pick-pocket and a amazing tricker of minds. Using young K'lan to his benefit, Dajin pulled in more money then before he and K'lan meet and slowly his need for richer riches began to grow. Everything seemed to be going well with K'lan and Dajin. But the greed of a thief can often be to much for one to handle and Dajin was one of the many that couldn't.
It was not long after K'lan's 14th turn when it happened. Dajin was caught stealing Flitter eggs from the hatching grounds. K'lan, who had been forced to go with Dajin to steal the eggs against his will, narrowly escaped. But he did not escape empty handed. Before Dajin had been caught, he had handed K'lan a bag full of whatever he had been stealing from the hatching grounds, which K'lan had been unsure of at the time, and had told him to take it back to their hiding spot , which was a small cavern on the edge of what the Weyr called the hunting grounds that very few knew about.
Fleeing the Hatching sands just in time, K'lan ran as fast as his legs could take him to the hide out. He could hear the shouts and yells of men and women behind him as her ran. He could tell they we angry and, though he didn't know why they were so angry, he didn't want to find out. It wasn't tell later that he would find out the reason for the up roar.
Finally reaching the confines of his cavern home, K'lan came to a stop gasping for breath. He still held tight to the bag that had been given to him as he did so. Walking around a little so he wouldn't get cramps, K'lan slowly started to catch his breath again. Once his breath was completely caught. K'lan slowly lowered the bag to the ground, to make sure the objects inside wouldn't brake if they were fragile, and sat down looking at the bag. Unexpected tears had came to K'lan's eyes by this point as he realized he was alone once again. He had a strange feeling he would not soon see Dajin again and he also had a feeling that he would have to find a new hiding spot now that Dajin was captured. As Dajin had told him many times before, there was no trust amongst thieves.
Brushing his tears away swiftly, K'lan decided that the best cause of action was to move now. As Dajin had often said, "To idly sit about when danger is calling is to ask to be caught." Thus, K'lan picked up the bag he had laid upon the ground and hefted it over his shoulder. This had been the last thing Dajin had put him in charge of and he would not let it go now! Only taking the bag with him, K'lan ran out of the hideout and into the forest like hunting grounds to a place he was unsure off.
Finding another cavern deeper into the forest, K'lan searched it for danger, then crawled in. This cave was much smaller then the last cavern. But it was not to small for just him. He knew that he would not see Dajin again and he knew if he did he would be free no longer. Putting the only thing he took with him gentle on to the ground, K'lan stared at the bag in curiously. What had Daijin been captured for? What had he been stealing on the hatching sands? The answer lay tightly wrapped before him.
Knowing it to be the only way for him to find out what was in the bag. K'lan picked up the bag, yet again, and put it in his lap. The bag was heavier then he had thought it had been now that he was no longer running purely on adrenalin. Though he was tired and frightened, he knew that other thing took priority over rest and or even sleep.
It didn't take him long to realize what was in the bag though. When he looked with in the bag his eyes fell on five small eggs and he knew instantly that they were flitter eggs and, thus, he had found his new family. K'lan watched over the eggs like a hawk and made sure they stayed warm as he waited for them to hatch. He had to admit he had considered taking them back, but he knew that would just get him in trouble and he want to keep them more then anything in the world. He never left their side unless it was to get something to eat or do something else that was necessary to his survival and theirs as well.
When finally they hatched, K'lan and the five little flitters had a instant connection. Feeding them and taking care of the small dragon like creatures, K'lan came to love them deeply and they seemed to feel the same way about him. Not long after the eggs hatched, K'lan decided that he had to get back to business. Winter time was drawing near and he had to make sure that they all stayed warm and all had what they needed to live through it.
In the beginning, K'lan fought with his little flitters to stay away when he was on the job. But it didn't take him long to realize how useful the little creatures could be. Using them as distractions, as Dajin had used him, K'lan gotten out of trouble on many occasions. When he was 15 however, K'lan heard of a new Weyr by the name of Akum Weyr and decided to leave Benden Weyr, and all his bad memories of it, behind him.
On arriving at Akum, everything seemed to be going great, That is, Until thread fall came once again to the Weyr. It was then that a curse was reviled. A virus that would never be forgotten in the history of Akum Weyr. A virus that caused the death of winged beasts. Throwing the Weyr into chaos and confusion, K'lan was not unaffected by the sudden lack of dragons. Do to his love for the majestic race, K'lan was quite distressed by the sudden Deaths of the dragons, flitters, and the Fire-Birds he had also came to respect and he found himself worried about his beloved flitters.
But not long after the virus was found out about, his little gold, Sunrise, took her first flight and laid a clutch of 10 eggs. Not sure if they would hatch or not, K'lan took the eggs to the hatching sand of Akum and left them their as a apology for stealing his family away in Benden. It was not long before he heard of their event less hatchings. K'lan was truly relieved by this news when it caught his ears. But he was still worried about his small and, now, fragile family.
Relief filled the Weyr when the aging queen, Myndith laid her last clutch and produces 21 healthy eggs, one being a gold queen. When time came around for the hatching, curiosity got the better of K'lan and he sneak his way onto the stands to watch his first hatching. Little did he know what would happen to him.
The hatching went on as normal and one by one the few candidates that where on the sands impressed then, unexpectedly, a little brown ran up into the stands right to K'lan, to K'lan's greatest shock. This brown dragon's name was Arkinth and K'lan fell in love with the little brown instantly.
Being forced to move in with the candidates from his cave in Cullai forest, with his flitters, K'lan started his training as a dragon rider of Akum Weyr. Life was a little ruff for K'lan at first, do to the fact that he was used to fending for himself and his flitters, but it started to get easier for him as the days went by. Though he did never get used to having so many people around him all the time.
Everything seemed to be going good for the Weyr... That is, until signs of thread started to show themselves once again. Sending the Weyr's last wing to fight the thread, K'lan and the rest of the young riders watch as they died on by one. With all of the dragons in the weyr not ready for thread and all of the Fire-Birds being wiped out do to the plague that had taken Akum, the weyr seemed to be lost even in K'lan's eyes. Slowly the Weyr started to fall into ruins around K'lan, who felt truly useless for the first time. Then, to the Weyr's great shock, a White Fire-Bird the size of a small white flew through the sky above Akum Weyr and at the thread that fall saving the few Weyrfolk that were left as well as young the dragon riders and the Weyrling master that had stayed out of the fight.
After the White Fire-Bird at the thread he watched it land in the hatching sands and lay the largest clutch of eggs he had ever seen one creature lay. Then, raising into the air for the last time, the white turned to ash and blew away leaving the weyr and it's eggs safely behind.

Name: Arkinth
Turns: 3
Color: Brown
Appearance:
Arkinth is small for a brown, but what he lacks in size he makes up in muscles. Being a dragon that enjoys daily activity, Arkinth doesn’t seem to have any time in which to gather any fat. Do to a fight that he had with his bronze brother Tarnith when he was very young, this dragon his a large scar on his wing and often has a hard time flying do to the fact that it had been broken in the fight. He was luckily able to heal after the break though and now only suffers some stiffness and random pangs of pain when he flies for to long. This doesn’t seem to stop his dragon form flying though. It just seemed to encourage the stubborn dragon to do it more. Arkinth hide is a nice medium brown color and doesn’t seem to have any discolorations at all. He is solidly colored with the only discoloration being his scare. This dragon seems to look very grumpy all the time and tends to be found alone, with his bonded, or with one of K’lan’s flitter family.
Personality:
Arkinth is a very anti-social dragon and doesn’t like being around anyone but his bonded and his bondeds flitters. Everyone else this dragon pretty much can’t stand being around if he can help it. Do to his anti-social personality, this dragon hates being in a crowd and he will avoid it at all cost if he can. This dragon also hates being in the spot light. Though he hates all of these things, Arkinth can’t stand the thought of getting fat and useless so he is very active. He will often go out flying by himself if his rider isn’t interested. He is stubborn and will often fly until he feels like he is going to fall out of the sky. He also doesn’t take crap from anyone. If they want to start something, then he will be on them faster then they can blink a eye. This also happens when his solitude is disturbed by someone he doesn’t want to deal with. Though this may be true, Arkinth is very compassionate to his bonded, his flits, and probably people he actually starts to like. The last one has yet to happen though so it is still unsure. He also has a unyielding protectiveness for those he loves.
