Appearance: Kalushka is a lady of short stature. She reaches the rather small height of 5’2”. The girl has a pale look to her, accompanied by a pale skin color. No matter how long she stays in the sun, Kali can not develop a tan. Beneath the pale skin and weak appearance are muscles developed from hard work and tons of running. Scars seem to be sprinkled all over the girl, mostly placed around her arms and hands.

Kalushka is adorned with stark black hair that reaches down to the middle of her back. The hair is straight, and Kalu considers it a boring style. The black strands of color frame pale blue eye the color of a cloudless day. Her eyes are full of life and reveal the strength her body disguises. Kalushka’s eyes can be as sharp as steel or as soft as a cloudless sky. The young woman considers her blue eyes her only good feature. If her eyes were any different color, Kalu would think that she was plain and ugly.

Kalushka has always worn bright vibrant colors with dark accents. The usual attire consists of a pale colored tunic, darker colored trousers, and old worn boots. Her clothing is always slightly larger then her own frame so that Kalu will have the full ability of motion she requires for her daily activities. Sometimes, on special occasions, Kalushka will wear a dress or a tunic with a skirt. These are the only times she doesn’t mind showing her feminine side. If the events were different, Kal would come in her usual attire.

Personality: Her appearance says weak, but Kalushka’s spirit says strong. The girl was born to be stubborn. Kal will never back down from a challenge, which has often gotten her in trouble. Her willingness to act like a boy has often place the girl in the mercy of her strict father, but the punishments can’t tame her wild spirit. Kalushka is a girl who can’t just stop. She needs to keep moving all the time. Being born in the South has given the child a spirit of exploration and freedom, and the Southern landscape has always overruled her father’s rules.

Kalushka is also very determined. Once she sets her mind to finishing something, like one of her precious carvings, Kali can’t be stopped. She feels the need to continue what she starts, whether it is an argument, a project, or simply one of her many runs. Although she can be wild and everywhere at once, Kalushka can also be a caring, gentle and selfless person. She feels the need to help others, to heal them, or just comfort them in times of need. While half of her heart is devoted to wild freedom, the other half belongs to the soul of a healer.

History: Kalushka was born into a family with mixed backgrounds. Her mother, Nushka, was born at Splinter Wood Hold. Nushka was trained by a retired female Masterhealer Kalu’s father, Kallun, was born to a Master Woodcrafter. Being an adventurous man, Kallun traveled to the Southern Continent after he earned his Mastery as a Woodcrafter. The man came to live in Splinter Wood Hold, and he soon fell in love with Nushka. The two married and quickly found that they were expecting. When Kalushka was born, the new parents teased each other about how she would turn out.

When Kal was six turns old, she cautiously wandered into her father’s workroom. The place was off-limits to the Holdbrat because of sharp tools and many other dangerous items. Despite previous warnings, little Kal explored the room. Picking up one of the carving tools and a chunk of wood, the youngster hacked away on the small chunk. When her father returned a few candle marks later, Kalushka proudly held up a very crude carving of a heart. The little project wasn’t more then a badly shaped lump, but Kali happily handed her toy over to her father. Kallun had become furious with his daughter, but when the child placed the carving in his hand, the man’s heart softened. Although Kalushka was scolded for entering the workroom, her parents still praised her for the little art piece she had created.

Soon after her exploration of her father’s work area, Kalushka became a big sister. A little boy the name of Jaliran had been born. The child grew jealous of her baby brother, and she quickly found another place to be besides her home. Kalushka joined in the activities of the Holdbrat boys and soon became one of the best of the group. The child was naturally athletic and often won the races she entered. As Jaliran grew, Kalushka began to feel more loving towards her brother. He always wanted to play with her, and the younger boy always had something to show his big sister.

At the age of 12, Kalushka had accomplished the art of woodcarving. She had already reached the rank of Senior Apprentice, and she was very proud of it. When she wasn’t helping her brother or father with the many carvings the family sold, Kalu was learning how to heal with the assistance of Nushka. The girl thrived in both of the arts she was learning. She loved to bring the wood to life in her carvings, and Kal enjoyed the pleasure of helping someone in need. When she reached her fifteenth turn, Kalu, along with Jaliran, stumbled across an abandoned fire-lizard clutch. Only two eggs were attempting to Hatch out of a clutch of five. The first to hatch produced a very dark green flit. The small female made an instant beeline towards Kalu while her sibling, a sea blue flit, jumped at Jaliran. To stop the fire-lizards from scratching them to death, Kalushka and Jaliran were forced to feed the two creatures their lunches.

When the siblings returned to Splinter Wood Hold later in the afternoon, both were tired and hungry, but they proudly showed off their new friends. Kalushka named her Green fire-lizard Jashta, and her brother gave his the title of Synaer. A few months after Jashta’s Impression, a competition was held among the young men of the hold. They all wanted to see who was the best fighter. Having never been trained to fight in any type of combat, Kalushka failed with flying colors. her companions had the idea that she was a great athlete, but after this competition, they teased her. Due to the teasing she experienced, Kalu became determined to find a way to beat them all.

After losing in the Fight Contest, Kalushka began to train herself on the proper techniques of fighting. She observed the lessons boys were taught, and rather then tell anyone about what she was doing, Kalushka trained away from the Hold. She preferred to keep her abilities quiet, just in case the other boys decided to hold another contest. When her fourteenth turn approached, Kalushka had already fallen into the rhythm of her life. She woke up in the morning and ate her breakfast. Then she hiked up to a clearing in the jungles near Splinter Wood Hold to practice her fighting techniques. Kalushka would return to the Hold about midmorning to work on the commissions people had ordered, and then she took a break before performing her chores for the day. Kal’s day would continue on like this, riddled with different jobs and chores that must be completed. When the day of her sixteenth turn arrived, Kalushka was happily chatting with other young ladies of the Hold. During their conversation, a Blue dragon had appeared in the sky. Awed by the sight, Kalu did not notice the rider arguing with her parents. When a hand touched her shoulder, the girl whipped around and found herself looking up in the Bluerider’s face. He asked her if she wished to Stand for the upcoming clutch.

Kalushka accepted the offer and quickly found herself on the back of the lithe Blue. When the girl did Stand, she did not Impress. During every clutch she was a candidate for, Kalushka was left standing alone. Having been rejected countless times by the dragons, Kalushka finally gave up the idea of Impressing a dragon. The girl decided to pursue her love for healing and to become a healer for both dragons and humans, but she did not know that fate has a different plan for her life. Kalushka did achieve her Journeymanship at the age of 18, but a year before, she attended the Hatching of Myndith's last clutch. She was positioned close up in the Stands, easily reached by anyone or anything coming off the Sands. It was near the end of the Hatching that a small multicolored Green Hatched and headed quickly towards the Stands. Being unusually strong and garceful, the strange dragonet clambered up the steps and into Kalushka's lap. With her head resting in her Chosen's lap, the little Green declared her choie. Kal-Mine, do not worry! Your Aznyth is here now!

Name: Aznyth

Appearance: Aznyth has a unique coloration, to say the least. It's not very lovely, but it seems to serve the green well. The main part of her had changes from olive to moss green, depending on where it is on her hide and the light hitting it. Layered on top of this rather drab color are differing shades of darker greens- some so dark that they appear black, some only marginally darker than the main part of her hide. The colors are completely randomly dispersed across her hide, sometimes in road splotches, sometimes only in dots. It seems to break up Aznyth's outline, giving her the look of a camouflaged dragon. Aznyth can hide almost everywhere, provided, the greenery is enough, jumping out to surprise people. Size-wise, Aznyth is average size for a green- neither large nor small. She's the typical green size, and seems content with that.

Her build is light and delicate, surprisingly wispy. She's built entirely for speed, and as a result, doesn't have the most endurance. Conversely, she can dive and turn easily, and is indeed very, very fast. In fact, as Aznyth grows older, she may become known for this, depending on how much Kalushka wishes to exploit this fact. Though seemingly fragile, Aznyth is still fairly strong, and can pull her own around the Weyr. Kalushka just must be careful not to overtax her dragon, or let her act too roughly, for fear of breaking fragile bones or wing sails.

Personality: Beneath the somewhat fragile body of Aznyth, there is a strong mind. She can be surprisingly bold and determined when there's something she really, really wants. Aznyth will even stand up to dragons of a higher rank than herself, if there's something she wants that badly. She's pretty clever for a green, and seems adept at finding ways to get what she wants.

Occasions like this are rare though, for Aznyth is a happy, loving dragon. Most everything in her life is much to her contentment, and she rarely makes complaints. It's not in Aznyth's nature to be unhappy, or not to like other dragons and people. It seems to take a lot to get her from her happy place to become unhappy- usually this only happens when her bonded is upset about something.

Aznyth is extremely friendly and sociable, sometimes to the point where it's a fault. She doesn't seem to grasp that not everyone has her best interests at heart. Why can't they all be friends, all part of a big, happy group? Aznyth is happiest when in a large group with other dragons and riders of her color and around her age. She's not particularly ambitious, content with her lot in life. Why should she be unhappy because she is a green dragon? Ranking doesn't make sense to Aznyth, and likely never will. In her mind, greens are just as good as Golds, and she can become quite adamant on this point. Should someone bring up that she is 'just' a green, Aznyth can become quite angry, putting up a large fuss until someone drops the issue.
